EADS Supplies TETRA Network in Guangzhou (2/2/10)
EADS Defence & Security (DS) and China Electronic Science and Technology Group Corporation No.7 Research Institute (CETC-7) were awarded a contract to jointly provide a TETRA radio communications system for the Guangzhou municipal government. The system will provide secure radio communications for more than 60,000 users across an area of more than 7,000 square kilometers in the city of Guangzhou.
The network will also offer secure communications services for the 16th Asian Games scheduled for November. The system comprises two switches, a large number of base stations and a dispatching system. To set up the radio network, EADS Defence & Security teamed with CETC-7.
The deployment work has already started as the Guangzhou government intends to use the system in April while testing security measures for the Asian Games. Users of the radio system will include the Guangzhou municipal government, traffic police, armed police, the city administration and the Asian Games Committee.
