NTIA Solicits Volunteers to Review SLIGP Grant Applications (2/20/13)

The U.S. Department of Commerce’s National Telecommunications and Information Administration (NTIA) is soliciting volunteers to serve as peer reviewers to assess grant application proposals for the $121.5 million State and Local Implementation Grant Program (SLIGP), the planning and consultation component for the proposed nationwide public-safety broadband network.

Reviewer applications are due Feb. 28.

NTIA is accepting applications for the SLIGP grants until March 19. Once applications have been received, NTIA will conduct reviews of each application beginning in late March through the end of April 2013. All application reviews will occur remotely, and some applications may necessitate a teleconference between the assigned reviewers. Reviewer evaluations will be an important factor that NTIA considers in determining if applications meet SLIGP objectives.

Qualified reviewers must have expertise and/or significant experience in public-safety communications. All reviewers must be currently employed by a federal, state, local or tribal government agency. Reviewers will not be compensated and will need to sign a waiver of compensation.
